Joppa (Japho)
Coastal city in southern Israel near Samaria and Judea. It was the closest port city to Jerusalem.
Jonah embarked from here to
Tarshish and swallowed by a great fish (Jonah 1:3-17).
Solomon used it as a harbor to bring trees down from the north. See 2 Chronicles 2:16 and Ezra 3:7.
