Conditional Promises

Guidelines: practical or temporal commandments with spiritual or temporal promises. Document simple gospel principles with their promises. Not generic "be good, be blessed" scriptures, but ones with specific commandments.


Isaiah 1:16-19

  • "Wash you, make you clean"
  • "put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes"
  • "cease to do evil"
  • "Learn to do well"
  • "seek judgment"
  • "relieve the oppressed"
  • "judge the fatherless"
  • "plead for the widow"
    • "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow"
    • "though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool"
  • "If ye be willing and obedient"
    • "ye shall eat the good of the land"

Isaiah 33:14-17

  • "Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done"
  • "ye that are near, acknowledge my might"
    • "Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire?"
    • "who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"
  • "He that walketh righteously"
  • "and speaketh uprightly"
  • "he that despiseth the gain of oppressions"
  • "that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes"
  • "that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood"

Isaiah 40:31

  • "they that wait upon the Lord"
    • "shall renew their strength"

Isaiah 43:18-19

  • "O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments!"
    • "then had thy peace been as a river"
    • "and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea"
    • "Thy seed also had been as the sand"
    • "and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof"
    • "his name should not have been cut off"
    • "nor destroyed from before me."

Isaiah 58:6-12 - blessing of fasting

  • "Is not this the fast that I have chosen?"
  • "to loose the bands of wickedness"
  • "to undo the heavy burdens"
  • "to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?"
  • "deal thy bread to the hungry"
  • "bring the poor that are cast out to thy house"
  • "when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him"
  • "hide not thyself from thine own flesh"
    • "Then shall thy light break forth as the morning"
    • "thine health shall spring forth speedily"

Isaiah 58:13-14 - promises for keeping the sabbath day holy

  • "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day"
  • "and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable and shalt honour him"
  • "not doing thine own ways"
  • "nor finding thine own pleasure"
  • "nor speaking thine own words"
    • "Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD"
    • "and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth"
    • "and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father"

Jeremiah 7:3

  • "Amend your ways and your doings"
    • "I will cause you to dwell in this place"

Jeremiah 7:5-7

  • "if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings"
  • "if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour"
  • "If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow"
  • "shed not innocent blood in this place"
  • "neither walk after other gods"
    • "Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever."

Jeremiah 7:23

  • "Obey my voice"
    • "I will be your God, and ye shall be my people"
  • "walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you"
    • "that it may be well unto you."

Jeremiah 22:2-4

  • "Hear the word of the Lord"
  • "Execute ye judgment and righteousness"
  • "deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor"
