I love how the Lord sums up the situation, how he knows that people were trying to kill him. It'd be a scary situation, and to have the Lord acknowledge that He sees the whole of the situation would be comforting. Not just that He knows what is going on, but that He is aware of the risks that are being taken in His name.
1 Nephi 2:7
He's doing the same thing prophets of old did. He must have had the priesthood if he could start from scratch and perform all the ordinances himself.
1 Nephi 17:23-43
Nephi is comparing their journey through the wilderness to that of the Exodus. Also, I love that we get a commentary from him that summarizes the story and provides prophetic perspective.
1 Nephi 20:1
They are making the claim (or holding the status) of being "the holy people," but are not actually holy.
