1 Nephi 13

• 1 Nephi

This is one of the greatest chapters in of all the scriptures, because we get description from an angel of God of the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and a history of both of them! This chapter deserves some serious study and reverent appreciation.

The timeline is important here:

1. The book was written by the Jews (house of Judah) (1 Nephi 13:24)
2. The twelve apostles testify of its truth
3. The records go unto the Gentiles from the Jews in pure form; This is where the twelve would have gone into the world to preach unto the Gentiles (1 Nephi 13:25)
4. after that, the great and abominable church is formed (1 Nephi 13:26)
5. and they take away the the truth
6. then the Bible goes forth to the Gentiles (1 Nephi 13:28-29)

• Nephi calls the Bible the Book of the Lamb of God

• After telling the history of the Bible and how many truths and covenants were removed, and after reciting how many Gentiles will stumble because of the loss of them in the Bible, this verse points out what the point of those missing scriptures were, and how the Book of Mormon restores that:
  1. Make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people
  2. the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father
  3. and the Savior of the world
  4. all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved.
