Coastal city in southern Israel near Samaria and Judea.  It was the closest port city to Jerusalem.

  * [[Jonah]] embarked from here to [[Tarshish]] and swallowed by a great fish (Jonah 1:3-17).
  * [[Solomon]] used it as a harbor to bring trees down from the north.  See 2 Chronicles 2:16 and Ezra 3:7.
